War Rules

War declarations

-When a war is declared the declarer must begin a topic in the Alliance Wars section with both participating parties included in the title. A separate topic must also be started for the participant’s combat reports ONLY.

-Wars may only be started by an alliance leader, if it is an alliance that is starting the war.

-Wars may not be declared if both alliances have only a single member, or the alliance warring with an individual has only a single member.

-The leader of the alliance being warred upon must be informed by the leader of the warring alliance before a war is considered official.

-Alliances are allowed to declare war on individuals and vice versa, the maximum number of wars that an alliance can have on individuals at any one time is two. The maximum amount of wars that individuals can have on alliances at any one time is one.

-Wars between two individuals (PvP wars) are strictly forbidden and will be stopped if they are posted.

-For two warring parties the bashing rule is removed, however, both parties must wait for 24 hours after the original declaration (forum time) before they can commence bashing. After the 24 hours has elapsed, attacks between the two participants are unlimited.

War endings

-A war is ended following any of these three conditions:

* One party surrenders, who is then declared the loser.
* One alliance disbands, who is then declared the loser.
* Both alliance leaders or alliance leader and the warring individual, agree to a mutual peace and declare it in this forum. In which case, the war is declared a draw.

-In addition, wars are automatically declared a DRAW if the leader of either alliance becomes inactive or every member of either alliance becomes inactive. A war will also be declared a draw if every member of either alliance is in Vacation Mode. Both of these conditions also count if there is an individual versus an alliance war, in which case, the individual takes the place of an alliance leader.

-Wars will also be automatically declared a draw if both participating alliances are reduced to a single active member or an alliance participating in a war against an individual is reduced to a single active member.

-Players may not decide upon their own terms of war that are in violation of these rules.

-Amendment 10/03/09: In the event that a declaring alliance shows no active participation in a war they have declared, the defending alliance may petition the moderating team to have the war closed.

The moderating team will make every effort to determine whether the declaring alliance remains active and wishes to continue the war. If no response is received from any of the declaring alliance membership and there is evidence that no activity has occurred against the defending alliance in 72 hours the topic will be closed and the alliance with the highest posted TD declared the winner.

Mercenaries

-Both participants in a war have the right to hire mercenaries. Mercenaries may not be “paid” in any way that would violate the milking, pushing and pulling rules. A common practice could be that the mercenaries are paid with the debris fields they create, or could be given Zorg Rubies as payment by their employers with the ruby trading system.

-For a mercenary to be hired, the leader of either party must clearly declare they are hiring the individual for mercenary work in the original war topic.

-Whilst mercenaries work with the participants during war time, they may NOT exceed the bashing limit of 5 hits per planet or moon per 24 hour period.

-Officially declared mercenaries are the only external entities outside of the warring participants that are allowed to post their combat reports in the wars combat report topic. If the warring parties are keeping a TD (Total Damage) count, the mercenary may add his/her hits to the TD, they must also include the damage they suffered in the TD for the side they are working for.

-Amendment 4/15/10: Alliances are allowed to attack rivaling mercenaries and said attacks will count towards the TD. Having said that, merc v. merc battles still will not count towards the TD.

-Amendment 4/16/10:The number of mercs cannot exceed the number of players in the alliance by which they are employed. For Player v. Alliance wars this means the player is allowed one merc.

-Amendment 8/29/10: Mercs are bound with the alliance until an outcome for the war has been decided.

Finally, all posts during war time are to abide by the current forum rules, that means no posting of coordinates, battle technologies or other personal information. Private Messages exchanged between each other are also forbidden to be posted, as usual.

Thank you for taking the time to read, may your wars be fruitful. :)

Torgard wrote: The cap on the number of mercs hinges on the number of players on either side. Therefore both sides would have the same cap.

Such as if an individual wages war, then both sides would be elligible to hire 1 mercenary.

If you have 2 alliances, then the number of mercenaries would be the lowest number of players on either side:
Alliance A has 7 players and Alliance B has 3 players - hence each alliance would be eligible to hire 3 mercenaries.
