How about a little number in another column in the rankings page that denotes active rank? For example:

i think a separate list is more visible and more descriptive. but what istal proposed gives us a snap shot of all the info which is also can be handy.

i just felt like i need to give a bit more detailed what i meant by handy. in rankings the visible changes are mostly the ranks up and downs. with points changes the player might or might not get ranks gain or loose. for that to be visible u need stable land marks. and inactive or vmode players are the perfect landmarks. as they dont move up or down u have a clear view if a player gained a rank or not as there are more intervals to catch up.

with the vmoded players around u have the changes more visible. and as far as i can see top 100 is fairly populated with vmoders.

also i would like to highlight the other addition to the ranking that i tried to focus a while back. if it is possible to give the players rank gains along with the rank and points?

just a thought

Not sure the rank change thing would work as well here as it does in other games Spy. Main reason being, a lot of people drop quite a few ranks when they fleetsave.
